Tomchei Shabbos
The Tomchei Shabbos program is designed to help local families and individuals in financial distress purchase much-needed food for Shabbat and Yom Tov. This program provides qualified families and individuals with gift cards so they can shop in a confidential and respectful manner without stigma.
The program currently helps over 500 people every week within the Greater Washington area. As Yad Yehuda is run only by volunteers, every dollar donated translates into direct assistance. Your donations are essential to helping us maintain this much needed community program.

An unthinkable dilemma
Many people face an unthinkable dilemma: Do they turn on the air conditioning this week, or do they spend the extra money on food? It’s uncomfortable to reach out to someone and say the words, I can’t meet my financial needs. Yad Yehuda is there for those families, to support the costs of living, to support the costs of Chagim and Shabbat.

This program has a spot for everyone – on either end. One day you may be in need, and one day, when you’re not, you can be on the giving end.”
